We help our beneficiaries regain their freedom and equality because we’ve developed a unique, integral strategy based upon three key approaches: Prevention, Intervention and Restoration.
Prevention | vulnerable populations
Empowering Vulnerable Communities with Workshops
We conduct workshops to raise awareness about violence leading to human trafficking. We target students, parents, and teachers to reduce the risk of youth becoming victims. We also train government officials and private company personnel to promote the fight against human trafficking.

Achievements:
- 132 prevention workshops across 6 different states throughout Mexico
- 519 government officials received our training on human trafficking
- EPDV and the Department of the Interior partnered to promote peace and social reconstruction.
- Collaboration with more than 50 public and private institutions, as well as state and federal governments.
Prevention | mobile populations
Supporting Migrant Safety with Education and Partnerships
We help migrants in Mexico by offering workshops on preventing human trafficking and child sexual abuse. We visit shelters, kitchens, and other vulnerable spaces to educate both migrants and staff on recognizing risk signs and taking preventive measures.

- 127% more information and awareness workshops in comparison to 2022
- Key partnerships with the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration, Doctors Without Borders, and shelters and NGOs operating throughout Mexico City
- 86 visits to Mexico City’s North Terminal bus station (a widely used transit stop)

Prevention | Men
Educating Men to Reduce Gender Violence and Prostitution
El Pozo de Vida combats gender violence and prostitution by conducting workshops on machismo and masculinity and offering outreach in red-light districts to shatter misconceptions about prostitution.

- Workshop course entitled “Rethinking my Masculinity” for Engineering and Sciences faculty at the National Autonomous University of Mexico
- All male EPDV staff received the same coursework and training
- Mobile cafeteria with men operated once a week in downtown CDMX
Prevention | Children
Teaching Rights and Safety Awareness to Children
We protect vulnerable children from human trafficking by teaching them their rights and how to identify safe support networks. Our team visits communities, offering engaging workshops and awareness events in primary schools.

- Collaboration with the Mexico City Department of Public Education to bring prevention activities to schools and libraries
- EPDV is now a member organization in the National System for the Protection of Girls, Boys and Adolescents

InTERVENTION | Community Center
La Merced Community Center Provides a Safe Haven for Women
Our community center in La Merced provides a safe space for women at risk of human trafficking, offering meals, workshops, therapy, and education to help them escape exploitation.

- 2023 saw the re-opening of our community center in La Merced
- Our kitchen served 1,112 meals last year
- 258 workshops including: English classes, sewing, self-defense, recognizing signs of violence, psychological counseling (self-care, rediscovering who they really are, grieving and mourning)
Intervention | red light districts
Transforming Red Light Districts with Street Parties of Hope
In Mexico City’s red light districts, we host street parties for women, pimps, and clients to disrupt the sex trade for a night. Our aim is to foster a loving and hopeful environment, build trust, and offer ongoing support to all attendees.

- 12 monthly block parties
- 26 weekly visits with select women from different areas
- Hosted a conference for planning and managing bi-monthly block parties in red light districts in Ciudad Juárez
RESTORATION | SAFE HOUSE
Casa Refugio: Holistic Care for Trafficking Survivors
Casa Refugio is a safe house for minors who have been victims of human trafficking. The girls and adolescents under our care receive education, medical treatment, psychological care, legal advice and life skills training- all invaluable support for their future.

- 4 performances of the play, “Life is Dreams” at the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature
- Accreditation of 80% of primary and middle school exams presented at INEA (National Institute of Adult Education)
RESTORATION | transition HOUSE
Supporting Young Women’s Journey to Independence
The Transition House provides temporary housing and support for women over 18 moving from our Safe House. We help them reintegrate socially, achieve their goals, and foster independence through education and personal development tools.

- 1 young woman was reunited with her family
- 1 beneficiary enrolled in college
- 1 beneficiary has a permanent, stable job
- 80% of beneficiaries have completed high school in the last 2 years
RESTORATION | NUNAYÚ
Empowering Survivors Through Jewelry Making
Nunayú is a social enterprise that employs women who have survived human trafficking. We focus on jewelry design and production, providing fair and competitive work opportunities, alongside psychological support, social services, and skill-enriching workshops.

- 12% annual sales increase in 2023
- Creation and implementation of a basic jewelry course for women who are in situations of prostitution in the La Merced area
- One collaborator obtained her primary education certificate and took the corresponding exams to complete secondary education
- 2 women registered for courses at the National Institute of Adult Education
